SHAVE ICE HISTORY
Shave ice is well known as a refreshing Hawaiian treat but many don't know the history. Kakigori (Shave Ice) from the 7th and 9th centuries A.D. was originally introduced in Hawaii in the 1800s by Japanese immigrants who went to the Hawaiian islands for work. The Japanese used the tools to shave ice off blocks and added syrups to cool off. Shave ice is very fine and absorbs syrups making for a delicious, flavorful treat.
